Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is a British and American sitar player. She also plays music. She was the first and the first woman to be awarded a British House of Commons Shield she has had nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian of Indian descent to perform live and to serve as a presenter at the award ceremony. Anoushka Sitar Shankar, one of the Indian young sitar star. She is a student as well as daughter of the famous Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was London in 1982. In during her early years, she swam her time between London New Delhi. When she was only 13 when her first performance at New Delhi took place. Then she relocated in Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha is still a young woman, nevertheless, she has an impressive career in singing and recording. Her father has been with her to numerous performances over several years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. She released the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years after. She has performed at most important venues across the world. Anoushka Shakar's career isn't only limited to music. She published Bapi, the Heart of My Life, in 2002. The book is a biography that pays tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. The year 2003 saw her appeared as a character in Dance Like a Man as an actress and Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka Shakar's professional career will only continue to grow and expand. We can look forward to seeing many interesting things coming from her. Anoushka Shakar was born in England was a major part of her time between London Delhi. When she moved to California she completed her high school. She began learning music at the age nine and was a sitar player to commemorate the 75th anniversary of her father's birth in Delhi just four years after. Anoushka gained a lot of experience by touring across the globe with her father. She appeared at Carnegie Hall in her teenage years, and recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the youngest and only female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament to recognize her musicianship and talent as an outstanding musician from the Asian Arts.
